Looking for a RHETI Alternative? The Enneagram Institute Test Compared
The RHETI is The Enneagram Institute’s own paid Enneagram test. Depth Profile is a Big Five assessment with a written report. Our report does mention an Enneagram type, but it is an approximation derived from your Big Five scores, not the result of a dedicated Enneagram test. If your goal is your Enneagram type, the RHETI is built for that and we are not.
This page sets out what each gives you, what each costs, and when each makes sense. RHETI details come from the Institute’s own pages, read on October 27, 2026.

What the RHETI offers
The Institute’s RHETI page describes 144 paired statements that take about 40 minutes. Results arrive as a PDF with scores for all nine types and expanded descriptions of over 2,500 words each for your top three. Its getting-started page adds that the report covers relationship issues, type compatibility, Levels of Development and growth recommendations.
When we read the order page on October 27, 2026, it listed:
- One test, $20. Report included.
- Volume pricing per test: $18 for 2 to 9, $16 for 10 to 19, $14 for 20 to 49, $12 for 50 to 99, $10 for 100 or more, across any mix of RHETI and IVQ tests.
- RHETI and IVQ together, $36, per the getting-started page.
On the Institute’s validity claims
The RHETI page calls it “a scientifically validated, forced-choice personality test” and says it “has been independently scientifically validated.” The pages we read did not cite the studies or give figures, so treat these as the Institute’s own claims.
What Depth Profile offers, and how its Enneagram works
Our free assessment is about 80 questions covering the Big Five, an MBTI-style type, creativity style and introversion. Built on the public-domain IPIP item pool for the Big Five, with attachment items adapted from the ECR-R and career items from Holland's RIASEC model.
The Enneagram type in the Full Depth Report is derived from your Big Five scores using a simple mapping. The report presents it as a rough resonance, keeps your archetype as the main label, and points people who want precision to the RHETI. We also offer a free Enneagram add-on that scores 45 short items of our own and shows a type, wing and tritype. Neither is a replacement for a dedicated, published Enneagram test.
The Full Depth Report, $19 once, includes:
- A long-form portrait written by AI from your scores and answers
- A written facet reading for each trait (descriptive, not facet scores)
- Attachment and career chapters, if you took those free add-ons
- A 30-day growth plan built around three experiments
- 50 AI prompts built from your scores
- Four bonus deep-dive assessments, PDF export and a 30-day money-back guarantee
The sample report shows the main sections and a few of the 50 prompts for an invented profile. These are our own short forms. They are not independently validated, and this is a self-reflection tool, not a clinical one.

Where the RHETI is the better choice
- You want your Enneagram type. That is what the RHETI is for. Our Enneagram is an approximation.
- You work with an Enneagram teacher or group. They may expect RHETI results and the Institute’s descriptions.
- You care most about motivation. The Enneagram is framed around core fears and desires, which the Big Five does not try to name.
- You want to compare all nine type scores. The RHETI reports every type.
Where Depth Profile is the better choice
- You want a trait model with a large research base. Our Enneagram vs Big Five guide explains the difference.
- You want to try before paying. Your Big Five scores are free.
- You want relationships, career and a plan in one report. The report adds attachment and career chapters and a 30-day plan.
- You want facet detail. The report comments on likely facets within each trait. See what facet scores tell you.
The practical answer
If the Enneagram is the point, take the RHETI. If you want a profile built on the Big Five, a well-researched model, with a written report, start with our free assessment and the sample report. Many people do both, since they answer different questions. Prices are on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions
How much does the RHETI cost?
When we read The Enneagram Institute’s order page on October 27, 2026, one RHETI test was $20, with per-test discounts for larger orders (for example $18 each for 2 to 9 tests). Its getting-started page listed the RHETI and IVQ together for $36. Check the Institute’s site for current prices.
Is Depth Profile’s Enneagram type as accurate as the RHETI?
Do not assume so. The Enneagram type in the Full Depth Report is an approximation derived from your Big Five scores, not from a dedicated Enneagram test. If an accurate Enneagram type is what you want, take the RHETI or another dedicated Enneagram test.
Does Depth Profile have its own Enneagram test?
There is a free Enneagram add-on that scores 45 short items of our own and shows a type, wing and tritype. It is not the RHETI, and like our other short forms it has not been independently validated.
Why would I pick a Big Five report over an Enneagram test?
The Big Five is the model most academic personality research uses, and it scores traits on scales rather than assigning one type. The Enneagram focuses on core motivations, which many people find meaningful. They answer different questions, so some people take both.
What does the Depth Profile report cost?
The assessment and Big Five scores are free. The Full Depth Report is $19 once, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
